We live in a fast paced world. Many of us are overweight and many of us are looking for that magically fast weight loss diet. We have a special occasion coming up in the near future and we really want to look good. Can you blame us for wanting to shed those extra pounds quickly and easily?

Weight loss is a huge industry and each day we see trim celebrities on television promoting a how lose weight diet plan. Some of these celebrities have actually lost large amounts of weight. Most of these plans require us to purchase their prepared meals at the cost of several hundred dollars per month. Now if one can afford that it may be a good way to go. The real downfall is not only the cost but eating prepared meals does not teach us how to maintain our weight once it is lost.

We flip the channel and see info commercials promoting the latest diet pill. The spokesperson soon has us convinced that all we need to do to lose the weight is to pop pills while keeping up what we are doing and the weight will come off with little effort.

We go to the bookstore to pick up a book for the latest fad diet that we heard about on Ophra or the View and find the shelves lined with a couple hundred other diet books.

We go on the Internet and see numerous advertisements for diet pills and weight loss programs that are promising us quick weight loss, exactly what we were looking for.

As we have noticed there are hundreds of different weight loss diets. There are many programs and combinations of programs to choose from. Our total daily intake of calories can be broken down into different ratios of three main nutrients: proteins, fats and carbohydrates. You have high, medium, low and zero calorie amounts of fats, proteins or carbohydrates. When you look at the ratios of each nutrient set against the others you find these to be numerous.
